Easter Sunday Spring Reflections

Mother Earth was the first to witness the Sun rise. Just like Mary Magdalene was the first to report the resurrection of Christ, “He has risen.” All of these stories remind me again and again, of the divinity of nature.

I’m wishing you all a happy day today, no matter what our individual beliefs may be. This day is a celebration of Spring. The return of the Sun after another cruel winter is a message of hope for the inhabitants of the Earth.

Look around at our planet. She speaks to us through blooming flowers and euphonious bird song. A message that comes once a year, and one that we can count on.

The Sun has been resurrected from his wintry slumber.

We can’t deny her message, as she shouts it from every uncurling leaf, and every hatching egg. The season of the sun has returned, and with it comes new life, new beginnings, and resurrections of some things that we thought were dead.

The dormant season is as much a part of the cycle as the seasons of growth and harvest, and the themes of resurrection and rebirth are yet another reminder to us that life and death are two sides of one coin.

Take a moment to stand out in the sun. Let it warm your face. Stretch out toward it like a spring sapling, inviting the energy of life to fill you. Invite this light into your life, asking for growth, health, and prosperity in the new year.

We’re in unprecedented times. My mom was sad that this would be the first Easter in her life that she’d spend alone. I told her that she’s never alone, because she is loved.

If you can’t spend today with your mother or father, or your sisters or brothers, chosen or biological, remember that the Sun and the Earth gave life to all things here, and we can be with them anytime that we choose to become aware of their presence in our lives.
